It's that time of year again! The 2011 New York International Latin Film Festival is just around the corner. The festival will be taking August 15- 21st. Tickets should be on sale soon. For more information you can click on the link
New York International Film Festival 2011 or you can visit the festival's Facebook Page (
NY Int. Latin Film Festival 2011).
Last year the festival was amazing, I only got to go one night, but it happen to be the night in which
Tropico De Sangre was being premiered. It was also Dominican Night and there was an after party that followed. Michelle Rodriguez (Fast and Furious) was present for the premiere (Super exciting!) and the movie was very good. If you have not seen it, it is now available on DVD, the film is based on the story of the Mirabal sisters.

Recommendations for the film festival:
1.
Buy your tickets early
I didn't have a problem last year with my tickets but its always better to be safe then sorry.
2.
Arrive to the screening early
This is for several reasons: there is the possibility of seeing the stars arrive (I got to see Michelle Rodriguez and a couple of other actors (unfortunately I didn't know who they :( were but it was pretty exciting)), and you get better seat selection. Dominican Night is one of the festivals biggest nights so expect a lot of people.
3.
Get tickets to at least one of the big nights: Opening Night, Dominican Night, or Closing Night.
You will definitely not regret going to one of these nights I can assure you that, like I said I only got to go to Dominican Night but I definitely had a lot of fun, can't wait to attend the festival this year. Hopefully, I can get to all three nights, to most of the film screenings, and maybe even an industry talk.
4.
Buy a badge
This year the festival is offering two badges: the Festival Patron Badge and the Festival Patron Gold Badge. The differences between the two badges is the Festival Patron Badge ($135.00) does not include special event screenings or access to the industry lounge. While the Festival Patron Gold Badge ($200.00) does include one special event screening (Opening Night, Dominican Night, or Closing Night) and access to the industry lounge for the duration of the festival. Either way the badge is a great buy, if its anything like last year you get some pretty cool stuff. I got a shoulder bag, a movie (DVD), coffee mugs, and some other cool stuff, trust me you will not be disappointed.
Check back I will be trying to load some video footage I got from last year's festival.
